This dragon was inspired by Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. There are 2 variants, or subspecies of Shadescale dragons; one that is black, and one that is white. Their eye color can vary slightly, but are a greenish color for males and a blueish color for females. Only the Onyx Shadescale has luminescence, this is to help them with catching prey. The onyx shadescale lives in large caves, since they are fairly big, however the snow shadescale lives in smaller caves. These smaller caves don't have prey large enough for the snow shadescale, and are used more as nesting areas, so they have to hunt outside of caves. The snow shadescale is white in color to help camouflage themselves against the snow, clouds, and the fog to better hunt for prey. Snow shadescale dragons tend to be a bit smaller than onyx shadescales. They both have a great sense of smell, the onyx one maybe a bit more since it hunts in dark caves. If the 2 current black and white variants were to breed together, it would create a new subspecies with a mixing of their colors and traits. The common black Onyx Shadescale is usually referred to as just Shadescale. While the less common white Snow Shadescale can be referred to as a Lightscale. The mixed subspecies of these 2 variants would probably be called a LightShade. Anatomy Unknown Gallery
